I love a “cheap” restaurant. The Post used to publish a list of the best sandwiches in the area. My son and I made it our goal to try as many of the best sandwiches as possible during the summer. Inexpensive but I truly cherish this time with him.

Peking Gourmet Inn.

I get the Peking duck of course, and the dumplings and Szechuan cabbage for starters.

You're my dining twin! I'll also add:

Nostos
Cafe Colline
Bar at Bourbon Steak

I love Yellow so much. Just wish I lived closer to one of them.

There's really not a giant amount of calculus going on for cheap restaurants with plates below $25. People want to know what is worth it. That means places where you have to spend a much more significant sum. No one gives a crap about a $13 pho place and whether or not you think it is worth it. No one is going to lose sleep over a bad $13 plate. People will get perturbed though if they spend $500 for a finer dining experience and are vastly underwhelmed.

No one cares about cheap eats.

Actually many of us do as that's where we go. Never bee to a $500 restaurant nor care to.

Love. I get the Dutch baby pancake thing, some of that house-made sausage, and a glass of fresh-squeezed oj.

I'm the OP. I DO care about cheap eats. If the $13 pho is not good, then NO my money has not been well spent. And frankly, I MORE value the type of places that can serve me a fresh, well-prepared, reasonably-priced meal than the once or twice a year blow-out type meals. I do the former WAY more often, and it's frequently on nights that I'm too tired or spent to want to make my own darned (delicious) food. So please post about cheap eats AS WELL as the more expensive places.

I do!

"Worth it" for me means many things. Worth the cost, worth the calories/salt/fat, worth the wait in line, worth logging into the website to snag reservations exactly when they open for the next month, worth the commute... All these things factor in.
If it's not too expensive, even better!

Once upon a time, Little Serow. RIP.
Also, just down the block, Sushi Taro.

No. I've had terrible pho from an Asian supermarket food court, of all places.
Granted, I am white and used to pho from my neighborhood place, so cannot be considered an expert.

I usually go for a specific dish. I don't know a restaurant where most dishes are great.
Cheesecake has Thai chicken salad. I would not eat much else there. Dressing on the side and easy on the noodles.
Any Ethiopian for vegetarian platter.
Phos are always good.
