Then be prepared to be shocked. It’s a partnership - BRAVE players and families want MV. He will be coaching teams too.
Thank you! Where is all of this anti-MV stuff coming from? He's really good -- clear, honest, straightforward. My daughter appreciated him as a coach.
Because he’s accomplished nothing at this level and he isn’t a strong brand to attract players or college coaches.
MV had a whole age group quit on him and leave the club. That’s a huge red flag.

If BRAVE indeed evaporates, McLean ECNL is instantly better off (without doing a thing), as all of the displaced BRAVE players will be trying out for McLean (and everywhere else) anyway.
There is very little to be gained by actually going through with a merger with this dying club at the high cost of losing existing players and coaches. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?
By going forward with the merger, McLean risks alienating all of its existing coaches - and any current players who don’t want to lose their coach. If there are some BRAVE coaches that Mclean likes (yeah, uh…) they will all be available soon.
Kill the merger, post the coaching lineup, and ID session dates ASAP or risk losing current coaches and talent.
Are there any real businesspeople looking at this for McLean?
Wishful thinking but it’s ecnl forcing two clubs with issues to merge. No backing out at this point. Any near term collateral damage will be overcome in the long term or through additional mergers. If that doesn’t sound like a real businesspeople running things then you don’t know business.
Lol - “real” business people. The only thing lower than BRAVE’s business acumen is their futbol acumen.
That may be true but if a club a with low business and futbol acumen and a club that was NCSL just three years ago are merging with a founding ecnl club as equals, who really got played here?
Did McLean get played, or have they declined in a way its families just aren’t ready to acknowledge? Whether in a business or a futbol context, a true bottom dweller never takes down a true titan. Which is more likely, Brave being substantially better than we thought or McLean being substantially worse than we thought?
This. All this.

I have a kid on one of the teams. Basically, found out and hadn't even told me. None of the kids on the team are stressed. Most are busy with high school teams now.
Maybe I've been just at this too long and been through stuff like this and Clubs folding, entire staff leaving, etc. at other clubs over the years that I do not get worked up...or, frankly, really care so much anymore.
Kid will go to some ID sessions and end up somewhere. Just like every year. And, you will find by the time your kid is a Senior...none of this stuff really was ever that important to begin with.
I hope your kids don't feel the stress emanating from your ever pore and over hear the awful things you say about other kids/clubs/teammates. Great way to get your kid to hate the sport.

Partnership should mean picking the best of coaches and players at every age group. Not just equal allocation or what some back of the bench BRAVE parents want just so their kid can get a spot. Start any other way and this partnership has failed before it started.
Similarly, not just what some back of the bench McLean parents want just so their kid can get a spot. Start any other way and this partnership has failed before it started.
Every FVU admin should agree with both of these posts. Please don’t go into this thinking a Brave or McLean coach must be the best. Or that any roster spots are assured for anything less than the top players that are available regardless of club affiliation. Start any other way and the club is a joke.

Those parents must not have a kid that they're trying to retain.
Not true. The full line up hasn't been emailed. That isn't to say there hadn't been communication.
The trolls/pot stirring is just getting annoying here.
Release what you have. It’s 2/27. Losing kids every day.
Everyone will know who saved who based on the coaching allocations. McBrave has arrived!
Good. And those coaching allocations are? You have lost 2 kids in the time it’s taken to read this message.
Lost them to who? Another ECNL team can't pick them up until Friday and if they're going to GA they were probably bench players anyway (not that there is anything wrong with that).
My kid signed up for an Arlington session today so they will definitely go to that practice and may take a spot if they like it. It’s after March 1, but we wouldn’t have even signed up if FVU had shown they were organized and released coaches. Tic tic. Your teams are getting worse every day.
Ok. I just don't see other soccer programs in this area as a threat. Our team has always beaten Arlington. Every time they've played since they were littles. I know this is age and gender specific but I don't see going to Arlington as a step up from McLean. I'm not worried at all about teammates seeking what's best for them. This area is so transient, someone just as good can move here tomorrow. Good luck to your player.
-McBunion offer in hand (congrats!)
