Rosemary Hills celebrates Valentine’s Day but not Halloween.

Ours does and they still have a party, with treats, snacks and cards to hand out. Same for Halloween.

So while it may be easy to blame MCPS itself, or 'leftists' or 'PC culture' or one particular ethnic/religious group, there's nothing blanket going on here. It's very much down to how your school's administration is either deciding for themselves or responding to your particular school's parent population.

Is that one well attended?

Not sure. The media center is sufficient space to hold it, and fewer than five students in the classes I've volunteered in have opted for the alternative celebration.

Exactly. Hope kids enjoy the day with their peers. Soon they won't have these exchanges in upper grades, sadly.

Nope, I can see it in HS, but MS needs to let kids be kids.

Our ES up in a Derwood does a valentines party in the afternoon with card exchange, treats, crafts and games.

of course, if that's what the kid wants. This year my 2nd grader found some inexpensive backpack keychains from Oriental Trading, so we ordered those and she made tags. Fifth grader specifically asked to give out Fun Dip valentines.

My school does a party, yes, with the focus being on the card exchange - which is what your class is doing too! I wouldn’t call that not a party.

My kid had a kindness day at school but they were still exchanging Valentine's Day cards. It basically seemed like a difference without distinction.
