That only lasts a few minutes; if you were tracking the progress until then, you’ll need to protect your eyes.

You don’t need the glasses when it’s in totality, yes. But you need them when the sun is partially covered (eg immediately before/after totality)

DH and I will be viewing from our yacht in the Pacific after a weekend jaunt to Cabo San Lucas. We’re installing high powered engines so that we can track the path for as many miles as possible. Not as lux as Buffalo, I guess.

Yes

Really? I would have said no. In 2017 we had partly cloudy and when clouds obscured during totality it was just dark. But mercifully they passed quickly.

We’re going to Niagara Falls. If the weather is forecast to be terrible we may cancel. But even if it’s not great, at least we’ll get to see the falls.

I can't decide! DS is in middle school and already missing days shortly before due to an extended spring break. We have family in totality so all we really need is to buy plane tickets. I just can't decided since we are dropping a lot for spring break and then another trip this summer.

Probably West Texas. The rest of the South could have tornadoes. The North could have clouds and rain.
