Hello All, OP here. Thank you for taking the time to provide suggestions and encouragement. I will go over them and try to find a way forward. If you have kids, you know, it is easier said than done. Not the end of the world, but there is still no joy, and I am very tired of the whole process.

Umass Lowell is locally very respected for STEM and engineering. Deadline is 2/5

UMBC, CNU, and ODU are all worth applying to. I would hire someone from any of those 3. And DC still could attempt to transfer out to a more preferred school for sophomore year.

Rose Hulman is another great option with a Feb. 1st deadline.

It would help to know what your daughter wants in a school, beyond cheap and STEM.

What about WVU? They are rolling admissions up to the last minute, even going into summer. It’s not a bad OOS safety option for DMV kids and they have a decent STEM Pathways Program.

Mailers my DS received this week (or last) College of Wooster [we visited and he started the application but it was not his 1st choice - but was a nice school and could be a good fit - and they give a lot of aid]

But the stats are good. And a girl interested in STEM has advantages.

You have a few hours to hit the 2/1 deadlines. Surely, you have a list of schools that are decent at STEM and offer good aid or good merit. A 4.6 girl interested in engineering with good ECs is generally a high priority admit.

Apply. Now.

This is not the time to feel sorry. Find the schools and apply now.

Then, after midnight, put together a list of 2/15 and 3/1 deadlines. And apply.

Do not take a year off.

If it ends up being CC, get the straight As and transfer.

Everyone in life endures at least 9 months of suck. So it happens now. She becomes stronger, more motivated, learned a few things about life. There's usually an upside when things don't quite work out.

But get busy this evening.

Although you are not in-state for Virginia colleges, I would still consider last minute applications to Christopher Newport University and possibly Old Dominion University. Both have 2/1 deadlines.

Yup! If in MD (as a post stated), there are many options besides UMD. UMBC is an excellent choice and your kid should get in---in fact it should have been on their automatic list.

WPI. Gives great merit. Deadline tomorrow, very easy application.
