Nope. Sadly I think our "souls" are totally dependent on the state of our physical being - such that when your brain is damaged or even if your hormones are off, your consciousness and personality - the soul, if you will - changes and can end.

I spent many years of my life overseas in a highly densely populated place with tens of thousands of years of births and deaths, prosperity and famine, war and peace. Never a whisper of a ghost.

Now, if a friendly ghost/spirit were to suddenly make itself known to me, it would certainly be comforting to know that we are more than just our bodies.

I was visited by a good supernatural doctor when I was a kid. This was in another country. I was very sick and was not expected to survive the night. We had a family doctor who had visited me at my house in the evening and he had told my parents to expect the worst. Both my parents were sitting up with me in my room with the lights on. I remember my mom weeping. Suddenly, I saw this person in a white coat walk inside my room. He had the nicest face and he was smiling. He came to the foot of my bed. He passed in front of my parents but they did not show any reaction. The strange thing was that my mom and dad kept looking morose and did not get up to greet him. Anyhow, he came up to me and he winked and said,"Hello! How are you doing, little girl? You gave your parents quite a scare". Then he came and put his hand on my forehead. His hands was so very cold that I felt as if all heat escaped my body and I started to shiver. He asked me, "How are you feeling right now?" I told him, "I am so cold". He looked at my dad and my dad just got up and came and covered me with extra blankets. Then he said, "OK, I am leaving now. You will be fine by morning". And then he left. My parents continued to sit in the room and did not walk him out of the house. At some point I began to feel warm and then my fever broke and I was better by morning.

In the morning, when I woke up I asked them where the nice doctor was. They did not know what I was talking about. I told them the whole story and they assured me that no one had come. I asked my dad if he did not see him when he covered me with blankets and dad told me that he did so because I had said that I was cold. This was more than 40 years ago. Maybe I was hallucinating but I can still recall the sensation of his touch on my forehead and the entire conversation. My recovery was hailed a miracle by the doctors who had been treating me.

Terrifying.

I used to work as a nurse on a pediatric oncology unit. One morning an 8 year old boy in the "A" bed (double rooms) died. We followed the protocol for after care, took the body to the morgue, etc. Later that evening, we got notified that a 6 year old girl (one of our regular patients) was getting admitted. We were really busy and the only room available was the one the little boy died in earlier. We admitted her to the "B" bed and in the middle of her admission she firmly stated "Tell that boy to quit looking at me" my colleague and I were like ??? and she said "that little boy sitting on the other bed, he's looking at me and I don't like it" I still get chills when I tell this story. We moved a couple of patients around and admitted her to a different bed.

I read through all of these, and the only one that gave me chills was this one. Not necessarily in a bad something evil way. Just in a there's something to this way.

I stumbled across this thread by happenstance. This post made me want to turn the lights on.

One time my cousin and her family rented a cabin. Her husband made a video of the place showing the kitchen and living room. Later that night she had awful nightmares and insisted they go home early the next day. We all got a chance to watch the video clip. We saw her young son say "scary monster" and you could see a shadow moving in the background. They didn't notice it at all until they saw the video.

Yes, they visit us whenever they like.

Pp here. It was a medium sized antebellum house from the 1840s. After the incident, I found out the last sisters who lived there had a rollicking social life in their younger days.

Don't want to give the exact location, but it was in central Georgia. Lots of the towns in the area had lots of people telling ghost stories and after living there I believed them.

It was unreal and I thought I was crazy, thought one of my neighbors was playing a joke on me. Nope. Checked everything I could.
