Are you kidding? There's tons of hot babes of many different ethnicities who live in DC.

LOL.

That sentiment might have been true many decades ago but DC fell of the shelf a very long time ago....

That sentiment was never true.

+1 First PP is a delusional local who has never resided elsewhere. How sad.

I went to college here, made a bunch of friends, bought a house, went to grad school and made more friends, so now I have an awesome social circle. I can't imagine leaving. The job market is pretty good, the people are smart and often interesting, the music scene is good, there is culture and good running trails and the weather isn't terrible. Yeah, housing is expensive and traffic įs a pain. Oh well.

LOL re suburbs. You’ve clearly never been to CA, or FL, or MI, or NY, or AZ, and on. Suburbia is homogenized everywhere. It’s certainly not unique to the DMV.

90% of DC area residents say they hate the USA, refer to most of the US as “flyover” country, and threateningly whine they’ll abandon us for a majority-white, rich foreign country if a fair democratic election brings trump back to the WH.

So get off your “worlds most powerful country” soapbox, PP; you hate the US for that.

Oh look, a whinging right wing moron with a chip on their shoulder. Whee fun!

I have since moved but loved:
The food scene
The spring scenery
The free activities/museums/etc
The ease of meeting new people because everyone seemed to be a transplant

I did not love:
The cookie-cutter feel of so many suburbs -- felt manufactured
Distance to ocean or other recreation -- no real charming destinations nearby
The "what do you do?" government/noncreative vibe

Why do you care? How could this be interesting?

* Because it's a great place for unmarried men and women to live. Easy to make friends and (easier) to get decent dates compared to our hometowns.
* Better quality of life for the price compared to peer cities NYC, SF, LA, etc
* (Supposedly) great job market
* Don't have to drive everywhere

We are only here for our .gov jobs.

Move. No reason for you to stay. Head to Texas where the power grid companies don't have to provide service. Yeah the Texas legislature approved that one. Or Missouri or Florida or Mississippi or Oklahoma or omg Tennessee where pedos from Maryland can move and have their records expunged.

Why would they do all that because City of Alexandria has this own Expungement Clinic for felons.

I'm here for my federal government career, which is not one that can be easily transplanted.

Actually living here, I guess the best way for me to put it is... it doesn't suck.

- Having grown up on the West Coast, I still struggle, after 30 years here, with how uptight people can be (to be fair, I always felt a little too uptight to be a West Coaster, but...).

- The museums, restaurants and theater/music scene are great.

- It's too expensive and getting worse every year.

- I hate the weather outside of brief periods during the Spring and Fall

I'm very much looking forward to moving away once DW and I retire, but would happily come back and visit every couple of years once we do.
