I don't think the person you are responding to would disagree with you. I truly think they're mentally ill and think they should be in youth facilities with a metric ton of therapy, schooling, and probably job training until they are deemed fit for society. Almost nobody is willing to pay for this.

I don't think it's about money, it's about civil liberties. We turned away from involuntary treatment which essentially means the only mental illness we can "treat" is what we criminalize. However, once the kids are in the system - yes we can pay for it. Allen has not spoken to what REFORM comes with his youth reform. We spend plenty on DC on supervision and services" for adjudicated youth. Id like transparency, accountability and if needed (after we audit it all), more services like those you mention. I mean obviously we need it since NO ONE is coming out the revolving door reformed. This is Allen's Law and he needs to speak to "WHAT REFORM?".

They are amoral. That's changeable with consequences, education, reflection, life skills training ie...reform. stepping in for the failed family. But Allen's law provides none of that as far as I can tell..just release with permission to kill.

Some may have different values than you do, not a mental illness.

Nope, just regular old garden variety unchecked severe and violent mental illness. He was already known to police for attacking businesses and apparently also attacked or threatened animals at a farm. Honestly, the fact that he stabbed a dog is probably the best outcome considering how it could have easily been a person randomly killed instead.

No, I wasn’t asking about the dog stabber. I was asking about the guy who lit someone else on fire (mentioned upthread). That one sounded like a grudge of some sort.

You're thinking about mental illness much too narrowly. They're not schizophrenic like the dog stabber probably is, but years of neglectful and potentially abusive parenting leading to violence, antisocial behavior, and a lack of impulse control is indeed mental illness. It's not an excuse, it's an explanation.
