What about a rice cooker?
They have better options over there plus everyone already has one (and you only need one). So it’s an odd gift.
They sell “Made in Japan” rice cookers at the airports in Japan for Korean and Chinese tourists to take home with them. Hilarious.

Yes, though you can only bring in one bottle per 18+ traveler.
It's now two. Drinking age is 19+ now so you'll need to be 19.
