Strain on Working Families: The unconventional calendar throws childcare arrangements into disarray, forcing working parents to scramble for solutions during half-days and closures that do not align with the traditional MCPS school calendar. The ISY program has been especially burdensome for parents with children at Roscoe Nix (Pre-K - 2) and its partner school, Cresthaven (3-5), which follows a traditional calendar. This creates undue stress and financial burdens for families, potentially impacting employment and overall well-being.

The teachers letter

This letter is pretty damning. I'd recommend folks on this thread read it, because as someone who has been pushing for answers about why ISY isn't working, and who was not impressed with the OP's first post, I find myself frustrated on behalf of the teachers and families represented by that later letter.
So much of what is described there tracks with my overall experience with MCPS Central Office, but magnified. There just does not seem to be anyone in that office with strong executive function and forward planning skills. For example, it is absolutely someone's job to make sure the transportation office is aware of the ISY schedule so that kids can get to school, but it didn't happen. Ditto the HVAC and the login credentials.
As I said, this is just an amplified version of the lack of forward planning that is constantly on display with MCPS CO. It's like they can't plan more than one step ahead. I have no idea what the answer is, but I'd be outraged if my kids were subjected to the lack of care that is on display in those ISY schools.

The cause may very well be worthy but anything coming from that blog is immediately met with skepticism from me and apparently other parents as well.
That's just silly. I have no association with the MC Parents Coalition, but appreciate that they are keeping tabs on MCPS and the BOE. Somebody or some organization needs to.
That is not what they (singular they) are doing, though.
It is exactly what they do which is why you are paid to spend so much time trying to discredit them.
Read the extensive letter from the Roscoe Nix teachers as to why this pilot has failed.
I don't think anybody is paid to discredit you. You do that yourself, for free.

Yes, most people do not care when the BOE spends millions on a pilot that fails. Why should any parents care about the waste of funding?
I'm actually grateful they keep trying to improve MCPS with these trials. Sure, sometimes it doesn't work out, but their efforts have made MCPS one of the finest schools systems in the USA!
So you want them to ignore issues and not try anything new???
MCPS tried this 'new' calendar and it's not effective.
So you want MCPS to continue pouring taxpayer money into an ineffective and unpopular program? Why is that?

This is a moot point since many of the supporting documents are cited and have nothing to do with the Parents Coalition. They are linking to official complaints from parents and teachers that went to the board or MCPS directly.
Teachers and parents have been making these points for months.
There will always be a few malcontents that enjoy complaining. I wouldn't take it too seriously. People have more important matters to address.

I understand but I think that as soon as this blog takes on your cause it is a hinderance not a help. It gets an immediate eye roll from many.
