Most undergrads in the T100 are good. But I'm only willing to pay 300k for a name brand with strong ascending reputation. Is that NYU? That's what I'm asking.
You are an idiot.
If money is not much of an object, NYU is a great brand and choice.
Yes, it’s in a safe, well-run city where the streets are clean, the drivers are sane, & all of its diverse citizens embrace each other’s individual value in the dazzling array of customs & languages.
Best of all, it’s affordable for college kids, & has many wholesome activities for people of all ages. Yes sir, a degree from NYU is a passport to success & acceptance across the country, because whether it’s Alabama or Idaho, everyone brightens up when they know a real New Yorker has just walked in the door.
As an Asian, I would feel safer in NYC than a middle of nowhere redneck towns.

There is no need to decide whether it's 22 or 32 or whatever.
US News is more accurate now than in the past.
No, it give more points to schools with more poorer students.
That's not accurate and a way to evaluate schools.
I don't care if students are poor or rich. I care quality of the students.
Define "quality of the students". If you mean high stats, the top universities don't only take students with the highest stats. Otherwise, my very high stats kid would be at a T10, but instead, DC is at a state flagship (and they are happy there).
Anonymous wrote:NYU is essentially a wealthy state school for wealthy students that want to live their college years in NYC.
At 26k undergrads and 50k total students, students really aren't getting the heavily personally invested education that other T20's are giving. And frankly, the low student-professor ratio is really the only thing that top privates have over the top publics. Without that, the 200k+ premium is not worth it in anyway.
It has top medical, law, theatre and business schools (and top graduate departments in related subjects like applied math and economics) by taking advantage of its location.
Its location also means that it will never have top engineering or natural science schools, because those fields require large spaces for equipment and large number of funded students for labor, who could never afford Manhattan's COL on the standard $20k/year stipends.

You are doing a fine job of refuting the stereotype that Asians are smart!

Going back to the original question.
For Stern and Tisch, absolutely. No comparison.
For other majors, eh. Choose the better fit. And, of course, the cost.

It is not WashU/Emory level now, nor was it before; it’s a notch below. I also see Emory as a notch below WashU.
As for US News rankings, hadn’t it ranked Stanford as #6 for many years? Please.
NYU and Emory were to top choices for ED for my kid.
Went with NYU and got in. Will choose NYU again if accepted to both and have options.
NYU has better business school, better engineering, better CS.
Emory is really not considered above NYU for many people.
Except US news, and the rest of the rankings. Lol. Also a higher percentage of wealthy/private students apply to Emory than NYU so there that too.
NYU is ranked higher on most of the rankings for Business, Econ, CS. Enginerring, pretty much most of the important stuff lol
What is and isn't important is not up to you. Last time I checked the government considered nurses essential. Regardless Emory is still the more prestigious school.
How about doctor?
NYU is ranked higher on Medical school and Law school lol
You don't decide what's more prestigious.
But US news does. NYU should stay in its T40 lane.

If anything Emory is the best of the 3.
Not by a long shot if you include Emory Oxford…
If you include Oxford you have to include NYU Abu Dhabi and Shanghai
