That’s the point. There is a whole thread on Yale and the dangers of New Haven. Penn is in an awful, crime ridden part of Philly. Doesn’t keep students from those schools.
Penn is actually not in an awful, crime ridden part of Philly. Strange when people post that don't actually know the area.
It is in a city and all city schools have their share of crime issues. I actually thought the GT campus was pretty nice and kids I know there don't feel particularly unsafe.

Athens has chain restaurants and a whole bunch of bars that cater to students. Whereas College Park... doesn't have that?

This. I currently live in Georgia (military) and we have pretty much prohibited our kids from going to school here. It's very insular, and most people believe the world stops at the state line. UGA is a great school, but socially, I would not want my kids there. Like someone else pointed out in an older thread, it's a great school if you're going to go straight back to Milledgeville and work at Daddy's insurance agency.
You sound insufferable.
I don't see you living here.. because you know I'm right!
I feel sorry for her family.
I feel sorry for her kids because they are living in state that their parent has contempt for. That is not a great way to grow up.
