As a GS-15 step 6 supervisor, I’m delighted with the raise. Now I will finally make just over what I did when I left Biglaw as a fourth year associate 13 years ago! 😁
Seriously though I could have left any time. I love my work and the salary is enough to live the life I want. I have family members who wouldn’t make $190k with two salaries combined. Show some self-awareness.
Another tone-deaf manager. If you are a 15/6, you don't really know how capped salary feels like. After 10 years of capped salary, come back and tell us about your self-awareness.

If what you do is so valuable on the open market that private jobs pay more, go and get one.
Exactly, if what that person is so amazing and worth much more than what they are paid, they can go try the private sector.
Frankly, (outside of a select few who were good and competent) vast majority of fed employees I have met in the area have been fairly subpar.
I feel this way about folks I have met in the private sector. Especially consulting and the like.
