Subject: Beyonce vs. Taylor
I’ve always thought Taylor was overrated . Miley is a better singer and has better music than her in country pop and otherwise
As for Beyonce, her solo career is a disappointment. Her best albums were with Destiny’s Child and under her fathers management. The Writings on the Wall is almost 25 years old and is still a creative theme (Ten Commandments of girls /relationships ) I’ve never seen a girl group or pop star replicate it since.

Subject: Beyonce vs. Taylor
They copy from each other but both are businesswomen foremost. Someone like Emmylou Harris and Jewel I would say are more artists.
You can just tell - the ones that hit the popularity circuit and make a ton of cash. They put movies about their tours out - come on - they are great business people both B and T!
That being said, I would give T the edge. I'm not a fan of either but I think T knows how to write a song. Even when you look at her earlier stuff, the fact she's been writing for years is something. B needs to do some of her own writing. She's a great entertainer but you gotta be both.
For example, J Lo is a great entertainer too but she also acts pretty damn well. Music wise, J Lo isn't all that but she gets the entertainer badge for what she does. B dances but she's limited to that in terms of entertaining. Sure she sings but she's not much of an actress nor singer. T does music well. So on the basis of singing and entertaining combined, I give it to T.

You seem very young and immature if you think that only the top 20 artists at any given moment of time mean anything. Why should she care? She has self esteem and is confident and has a vision for who she is as an artist and she has so much money from her extensive commercial success that she does not anyone to buy a single additional album from her. Why would she compromise herself to meet your measure of success? Why should I care about what you think about my interests for that matter? Beyonce is 42 years old, she is never going to be the next young hot thing anymore. She is an artist who makes music that she finds inspiring and meaningful.
You seem to be saying that if you can't be the absolute best of the best by spotify standards you should consider yourself a failure. Well young one, and I am a ripe old 38 here haha, I feel like perhaps you should look past the buzzfeed top 10 lists. There is a lot of beauty to be found in the world around you, sometimes it hasn't even been ranked and packaged to you and you just stumble upon it. Although this is all kind of a weird take about a woman who just had the best selling female artist tour in the world until yes, Taylor broke her record. Her movie is number one in the US this weekend. Beyonce increased her net worth by 20% this year to about a half a billion dollars. Renaissance debuted #1 on the billboard charts and sold a million copies. If this is your definition of a flop then I'll take being a flop any day of the week haha.

I took 10 seconds and attempted to come up with a male analogy. This is perfect. "We" as women are always trying to pit other women against each other. It's not a competition. Why are we comparing 2 different artists with 2 different fan bases. What do they have in common other than being women artists. They are not the only 2 on tour this year! And not the only ones who had a marketing team decide to make a movie from their concerts.... and definitely won't be the last.

It's not a competition. THey each have their own audience. Taylor's s more mainstream - as her music seems more conservative. My daughter listened to TS when she was 7 (and thus I did too). She didn't start listening to B's songs until a lot later.
Also, this thread is another reason that they are not comparable. People are always trying to pit them against each other. B is older, has a husband and 3 kids... sings different type of music, different dances, etc. She is not in competition with Taylor Swift. They are different, and can both exist and be famous and richer than anyone on this board. And as a 45 yo black woman, I can appreciate them both.

Taylor’s revenues and career comeback depend on people believing that she fighting for women’s/anti corporation rights.
