Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen comes to mind this time of year. The part about tying you to her kitchen chair surprises me every time.

Yeah, I get it. But there's some context to the lyrics that were removed.

Listen to Spanish Eyes, which was the predecessor to the song, and starts with the same:

Hey little girl, is your daddy home?
Did he go away and leave you all alone?

The longer versions of the songs make it clear the the narrator and the object of his affection are the same age, and that she's shacking up with an older man for money (ie the "daddy" in question is a sugar daddy)

Still definitely a song about lust and viewing a woman as a sexual object, but you do lose some of the creepy age stuff

Is it really that bad? Its probably weird listening to Paul sing it now, but I think he wrote it when he was 20 years ago. The "she was just 17" sounds different coming from a guy who is only 20

Sirius XMU plays the song Nothing Matters by The Last Dinner Party and it's very catchy and good but it took me several listens in the car with my 5 yr old to discover that the chorus contains the line "I will **** you, like nothing matters" and by then my 5 year old for sure knew all the words to the song. Oops.

I told her we couldn't listen to it anymore and she was so upset. It's a great song, just very much not child appropriate. I actually didn't realize until then that XMU plays songs with swear words!

Most of Pitbull's songs. Love the beat and tunes, but so much misogyny.
