Wow, didn't expect these responses. I guess I should just know the audience.
Anyway, my siblings and I have decided we will stop by for a shoe free drink but we will then go to my house where thanksgiving will be held.
So the group reaction to losing one parent is to shut out the remaining one because you don't agree with her life choices. Very mature OP. You and your siblings deserve each other.
You are right, we do.
My mom's hsband's reaction to us texting HER was to send a nasty, cursing text to my brother telling him not to come.
So, now, none of us are going. They can enjo their day in their socks all by themselves. The other 16 people will be at mu house.

Shenanigans like this will lead to her leaving the house to your stepfather rather than you sorry excuses for children.

No it’s not. For generations; millions and millions of people have worn shoes in their house and suffered no ill effects from it.
No, people throughout history have been very dirty and unhealthy and have died young of easily preventable conditions. Part of the reason you live longer is a generally healthier environment, and this includes not dragging in dog fecal matter with your shoes.
Anonymous wrote:Is it OP sock-puppeting her own thread?
Anyway, you just go with the new rules, OP. Not only is it a very minor change, but it's also a change for the BETTER.

You're unhappy that your childhood memories of your father in that house, with the lifestyle you grew up with, are replaced by a different man of the house who is not your father, and who is imposing his preferences, which are not your father's.
GET OVER IT.

ALL the people we are friends with have shoeless houses. None of them are Asian. We're the Asians in the group (also with a shoeless house).
Bring slippers, or warm socks, and be grateful your mother has good taste!
