You: the bus is bad because it's slow
Also you: one of the main things that slows buses is not the reason for the bus being bad
i used to ride the bus every day for many years. if i had to make a list of reasons why it sucked and hopefully i will never do it again, car traffic would not be in the top 20. there are SO many other reasons to hate the bus.

Same with bike lanes. The purpose of our transportation system should be to move as many people around as efficiently as possible. It shouldn't be to put your thumb on the scale for modes of transportation favored by young lefties that few people actually want to use.
Buses are very efficient. Bicycles are very efficient. Cars are very inefficient.
Do you think creating special lanes for people who want to get around via horseback would be efficient?
Creating dedicated lanes for ways of getting around that only a tiny share of people actually use is the definition of inefficiency.

At a certain point walking is faster than the bus.
Bus lanes speed up bus trips.
Buses run roughly every 30 minutes. Are they adding more buses in the rotation? Or just that instead of being late by 5 minutes, they will just be on time at 30 minutes. I now drive, but I rode the bus for most of my life. Bus lanes won’t make a difference unless they’re adding more buses to the route which they won’t do.
You were never on any buses that were delayed by car traffic or by having to merge back into car traffic? I sure have. And being on time is better than being late.
Sure I have. Just as I have been delayed while driving a car. Backups happen, but I don’t see how a dedicated bus lane is justified.

Yes, that's why they don't want to be stuck behind bicycles. Of course, if you don’t ride the bus and only pretend to care about buses, you don’t see a problem there.

I know the survey of commuters showed a pretty big demographic divide between bus riders and bike riders. But I didn’t imagine the divide was so large that all the cyclists commenting here seem to live in a bubble where they don’t even think bus commuters who don’t bike exist. It’s impressive.
Your response to “please keep cars and bikes out of bus lanes” is to say I must be a car driver and then to tell me to ride a bike. The possibility that someone could think that buses should be prioritized on part of a few roads actually brings out anger and insults from you.
That’s fine, but don’t get so angry at people suggesting lanes reserved only for buses and then call yourself a bus advocate.

They seem unaware that buses reduce traffic congestion and take cars off the road, making your experience as a motorist BETTER. Every bus can replace 30-60 cars and takes up far less room on the highway than those cars.
But no, instead people are selfish and ignorant and clueless.
Bus rider: I want some lanes dedicated for buses that neither cars no bicycles ride in.
Brilliant cyclists: Why are motorists like you against bus lanes?
Just give us enough space for public transportation and then you and the motorists can fight over whatever is left. Don’t say you support dedicated bus lanes, then get pissed when someone actually wants a dedicated bus lane.
Saying “I support dedicated bus lanes but think bikes should be able to go on them” is like saying “yeah, I support dedicated bike lanes but think cars should be able to ride on them.” It’s obviously ridiculous.

I'm sure those details will be closely enforced, just like the many rules around bikes making "Idaho stops" and marijuana possession are closely policed.
I don't understand. Are you saying that drivers are scofflaws?
No. The point was how cyclists and potheads are scofflaws.
Do you even context?
