I like the idea of getting a life preserver necklace. But keep in mind that is the logo for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I'm not sure how many people know that.

Agree a piece of jewelry with a nice saying that is relevant to what happened and a sincere meaningful letter is a beautiful expression of gratitude. The ridiculous comments about an engagement ring are so silly. Some have too much time on their hands!

If the gift is about the life-saving aspect, not him, then someday it will remind her of a heroic thing she once did, not the person she saved. We could all stand to remember our finest moments when things are rough.
