Agree - one should not take these labels too seriously - but it probably is somewhat helpful as a self examination and reflection tool …

INFP here

I’m quite friendly, so people often don’t believe I’m introverted; however, I am extremely introverted.

I need a very long time to fully recover and recharge. I’m perfectly fine hiding out in my house with my dogs for months. (I could’ve done COVID lockdown much longer.)

I’ll discuss any number of personal situations with folks. But, please, for the love of all, don’t small talk me to death.

I don't accept that introvert and extrovert is a thing.

You don’t sound off-the-chart introvert. Why do you think so?

Because I took the test, administered by an actual professional, as part of therapy. Literally could not be more introvert. Introversion doesn't mean you're shy or you don't like people or you hate parties.

This. A lot of people confuse social anxiety or being a misanthrope for introversion. I think of introversion as about an energy recharge thing.

I also think a lot of people confuse codependency for extroversion, which is also about an energy thing - just on the other end of the spectrum.

I don’t go to parties so I wouldn’t know who you are

Nonparty person, you know me. I know everyone! I'm a connector. Looking for someone who can ___? I know a person and will give you references.

Fully introvert

INTJ checking in. If I recall, my I/E spread was 20/5. Just enough E to not be a complete hermit.

The older I get, the less interest I have in fixing my anxiety, though, so I think as a practical matter I'm just an introvert now.

Same - but the older I get, the less interested I am in people, since I have come across so (SO) many takers. I do well with people I have known since grade school/high school/college, but am a tiny bit awkward otherwise, and detest small talk. People really are only looking out for themselves, the the Nth degree.

I tend to remember things. I know pi and e to single precision as well. Just in case it comes up.

But his battery is dead?

OP,

It was comforting to hear someone else makes friends and then feels like it’s “too much” to keep up.

I think I’m an ambivert—adhd—anxiety combo.
