I didn't see any signs during the work day - was on tons of zooms and no one mentioned halloween. But once our neighborhood parade started it was mayhem. 150 kids came to our door and we ran out of candy. There were also several big halloween parties in our neighborhood on saturday afternoon/evening with kids and adults dressed up. We are in Bethesda.

Trunk and treats are more popular now I think. There were several here including one put on by three churches together (odenton.). We had a good turnout though despite the cold, went through two big bags.

I really doubt the vast vast vast majority of Americans are not participating in Halloween because of what's happening in Israel/Gaza.

I did think it was quieter last night than usual. Maybe because of the weather and that it's a school night.

Not quiet in Takoma/Manor Park DC. I’ve never seen so many kids.

I don’t live in DC area but it was a huge street party in the neighborhood where we go to TOT just like every year.

Lot of kids here, guess they all went to our neighborhood..

We had at least 200 kids. We ran out of candy. 3 large Costco bags.

We had 1/3rd of our usual total of kids and a lot more very young kids. I stayed home to pass out candy but DH said the sidewalks on the blocks that are usually crowded weren’t bad.

At our house, it was very light on elementary school kids + tweens. We had preschoolers and teens. I’m guessing from the other threads that everyone else is still trying to coordinate conflicting plans? They’re tired from a weekend of Halloween parties?

I'm in Alexandria and there were fewer kids when we were out trick or treating; I'd say half as many as we saw last year on the same streets.

Way outside of DC here. We saw way fewer T or Ters than last year. Even the rowdy teenagers who empty the bowl didn’t come.

I'm in downtown Bethesda. Pre-Covid we'd get 200+ kids. Had about 60 today and they started so early -- 4:45 PM.

They should make Halloween the last Friday in October or something like that. Similar to Thanksgiving. It’s so tough having it in the middle of the week. I let my kid stay up an hour later than usual because otherwise ToT would be over almost before it started.
