I don't think you understand. It would only be given to those in need. We would create a nonprofit tht would take a 50% fee for administration and then disperse the funds to other more local nonprofits which would disperse the funds to even more local nonprofits...

Every time I see a pet in any kind of costume….. I always look closely at their face….They rarely look me in the eye as their humiliation runs deep….

Didn’t read the comments. Op, I have heard a lot of retail companies gauge their holiday expectations on Halloween spending.

Big spending at Halloween = order lots of stock, expect high profits.

Low spending at Halloween = worry. consider ordering less stock, don’t hire

I’m glad you posted this, OP. The waste bothers me so much each year. All of the Oriental Trading type junk that is going to end up in the trash almost right away, and the zillion pumpkins using fertilizer, water, fuel etc to be grown and then not being used for food. We are the only country who wastes like this (on holidays and at other times as well) and it’s gross.

As someone who spent most of last Saturday at a dog Halloween parade, where my normally surly teenager turned into a little girl giggling with delight, I say it is worth every penny.

Is it that we are buying the same amount of stuff (candy, costumes, decor, hosting parties) each year, but this year it just costs more ?

Or are we buying more (which also happens to be priced higher to boot)?

I agree with this. We have invested in some decorations that fit in a single bin and re-use them each year. We gift old costumes in our Buy Nothing Group or hang on to stuff to re-use or for the dress up bin.

Wish there was a way to tone down a bit on the candy, but it’s once a year.

It’s really the fifty million tchotchkes that are killing me. Party goodie bags, even from school. Little trinkets in ToT buckets. I appreciate that people want to make things special for the kids, but it’s just so much overload.
