She also seems obsessed with getting kids who are behind on track in math and reading. It's just insane.
And APE is still fighting issues from 3 years ago. Nobody’s going to “close down schools.”
And this obsession with test scores? Let me tell you a secret. Some kids know the content. They just don’t test well. Others are behind, but APE is too focused on accelerated/intensive classes. How does that help kids who will never qualify for these classes? Bc they are behind and actually need backfill/slowing down of content.
It’s almost like Miranda and APE care about THEIR kids more than others. Their disdain of equity makes my point for me.
I support equity, but not equity above all. *Of course* we need intensified classes for those who can handle it. Some kids show up ready and able to take on more challenging work. Should they really just sit in the background while others catch up?
Our grade level standards are so far behind other nations. Get a grip.
?
APS has been adding intensified classes. No one said to get rid of them.
The point was that the kids who are NOT in intensified have more critical needs. So maybe Miranda/APE should focus on them.

I’m not gonna vote for someone who acts like she deserves credit for living in the Valley when, as some of her supporters claimed during her first run, she and her husband could afford to live anywhere in Arlington. White savior much?
Yeah she lived in the Valley but sent one kid to private school, and didn't send the others to the neighborhood school. Not good enough for her and Mr. Miranda MAGA apparently.
TEMPORARILY sent one to private. They went Arlington Montessori for public.
Exactly, they avoided going to Drew. With the black and brown kids.
Wasn’t that during the pandemic?
The pandemic was over long before 2023. She was in private earlier this year.
Remember folks: if you have no kids in APS because you have no kids period, you’re A-OK to be on the SB, even if you’ve got no significant experience with APS otherwise (so long as you vote the party line). But if you’ve only got two out of three kids in APS, you’re a MAGAt racist who wants to destroy all public education and bring back Jim Crow.
Yes. Priddy took his kid out and put him in private. But you don't see anyone complaining about his politics or who he hangs out with here.

Stop this nonsense right now. I can barely stomach even spending the energy to confront the sheer ignorance in this post, but, Miranda currently lives in Green Valley. Presently. She was on Drew's PTA. Run your eyeballs instead of your mouth and do some research, it will serve you better.
How many years have her three kids attended Drew, collectively?

I was also responding about her touting living in Green Valley with the black people. That's pretty hollow when you don't send your kids to the Green Valley NEIGHBORHOOD school. One is or was in private. The others are in Montessori. So much for investing in your neighborhood school!
The pandemic was over long before 2023. She was in private earlier this year.
You mean her kid was in private last school year, after leaving due to the pandemic? And her kid is back at APS? Who cares if she moved her kid during the pandemic? Sorry if the kid didn’t come back on YOUR approved timeline. You people are nuts.
I DGAF where she sends her kids. The PP asked about timing ("during the pandemic?") and I responded. Her kid was in private earlier this year so during and after the pandemic.

Huh? You were criticizing Miranda for being in support of accelerated/intensified classes.
Yes, there are many kids with critical needs — like parental GAF. There’s nothing APS can do to make up for that.
I am a DP. You misread what the PP wrote. They said Miranda/APE were ”too focused” on intensified, not that we shouldn’t have them. Kids in intensified classes are fine. The kids who aren’t need more support. They are the ones falling behind.

Let’s see how many votes she DOES get versus the actual Democrats on the ballot.

Over according to who? The federal government declared the pandemic over May 2023. Do you have a different suggested date? This is the dumbest comment on this thread. And that’s saying a lot.

Just like the majority of others who wouldn't even consider living in south Arlington and specifically bought homes in north Arlington precisely to avoid the schools in the south with the black and brown kids. So, just as APE and MAGA as everyone else who avoided these schools, only avoided them in a different way.
