That’s weird since it doesn’t help much and very few apply ED to UVA.

why are you saying this? ED is huge bump at UVA.

UVA admissions is clear that they evaluate all rounds equally. They practically discourage ED applications.

Then why have ED? Many publics do not.

The UC schools don’t have EA or ED, but they might recruit for sports early. My kid had a classmate who was recruited the summer before senior year for her sport.

Not sports, and she claims friend is going to take a gap year, too. Could someone have already gotten an answer from UCLA if they applied as early as possible? I don’t know-we’re in VA and not considering any west coast schools

It’s all lies. Because uc apps are only open basically Nov 1-30. And ucla doesn’t allow gap years!

My kid is EDing to UVA, older sibling did as well. Ivy’s are a waste/crap shoot. It’s was amazing for my son to be done/know Dec 15. He was able to relax and enjoy rest of senior year, while other friends were stressed with apps and making sure sr grades were perfect.

that joke of a program from my high school days - is now the program that adult me would totally be interested in

Agree! I rolled my eyes when dc said they wanted to do the hospitality academy starting in 10th grade. My kid is truly interested in this, and I think it’s a brilliant move on her part. Fingers crossed that it all works out.

pray tell what on earth is the “hospitality academy”???

It’s a high school program where an elective is in hospitality. Kids have opportunities for internships over the summer and during the school year.

Here is a list of various academies offered in DCPS:

Probably has something to do with the fact that they’re Duke and Yale.

Agree, if you're going ED, Vanderbilt seems to reward the effort/commitment.
