Who would clean your house, work in your restaurants, do your landscaping.
I'm cool with walling it off but gurl, you can't clean your own bathroom and you know it.
Omg, whatever would we do with cheap, undocumented, black market labor and a whole bunch of liberals whose only jobs they’ve ever had are govt jobs and community activist orgs. Start their own county. They can tax the crap out of themselves instead of everyone else.

Same. I love my house and my neighborhood but I really want to get out once my youngest graduated HS (freshman now). This is beyond ridiculous.
+1 When we're ready to sell, we will leave MoCo. Maybe go up to Frederick. MoCo is ridiculous. The butt of the DMV joke.
I have no issues with the lgbtq. My kid's bff is an lgbtq, but honestly, Moco has some serious issues they need to deal with. Spend time and money on those issues, not proclaiming some day that no one else cares about on that day. Does MoCo think that the world will actually recognize special pronouns that people pick for themselves on this particular day?
Why wait? Move now!
kid is in HS.
Will you snowflake melt if you move during HS?
will people who identify with their whatever pronoun need therapy if MoCo doesn't recognize this day as "International" (lol) pronoun day?
Nope will Italians need therapy if we don't have a Columbus day?
really dumb comparison, but no. Hence, why the need to name it "International Pronoun Day". So stupid.
Who is they... you think the council named the day?
So, the council didn't name the day, but they had a signing ceremony recognizing the day. And what does that do for the county? Will anything change for the "they/him/her/he/she/it/??" people?
No, the County Council had a proclamation. They typically start their sessions with the proclamations. For example, on October 10, there were proclamations recognizing World Mental Health Day and the Department of Transportation's workforce. On October 3, there were proclamations recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do you object to those too, or just to this particular proclamation?

New poster here -
I can’t answer for the previous poster, but I object to those all of those. They’re all a pointless waste of time. If someone gave their life in service to the county (policeman, firefighter, etc.), then they should absolutely get a proclamation. All of the awareness raising proclamations only turn the proclamation process into something that nobody notices unless it’s something like pronouns. If the county really cares about these issues, they need to offer real help and mot proclamations.
If they want to support mental health, they might expand crisis hotlines, sponsor public relations campaigns offering concrete advice, increase the budget for social services, etc.
Give transportation workers a bonus or tax break if you really want them to feel appreciated.
I imagine that space in a shelter, legal assistance, etc., would be more helpful than a proclamation.
Do they have active policies for the county to hire the disabled? Job training? Job fairs? Tax incentives?
Do they have clinics that offer breast exams or classes/videos that teach women how to conduct breast exams?
I realize we can’t do everything as a county and hard choices need to be made. However, I think we could start by eliminating such pointless timewasters as endless proclamations that really only serve the political benefit of the council.

If it's 1min why even waste money/time for it? It's not like it will change anything. Honestly, these "recognize x day" are nothing but a boon for commerce, and not much else.

LOL people thinking MoCo came up with this stupid name day is bringing down the property values? OMG and you think you're so smart.
No your DNA is bringing down the property value.
