My observation is that the dcum drivers are not in the parking lots I frequent. I have never once seen anyone back in in one try. Not once.
Also not sure the safety argument makes much sense; a pedestrian (especially a small running child) could still try to nip across the space before you back into it. There’s generally time.
When I leave I back out slowly, which has been safe so far. But I don’t drive a giant car or truck.

Huh? Backing in is most beneficial in a tight lot. I don’t want to be backing out with low visibility in a tight and crowded lot. I don’t care in a suburban strip mall.
