It is no worse than influenza except for when it is worse than influenza.
For the vast vast majority of people, it is not worse than the flu.
If you didn't quarantine for 5 days after being exposed to the flu but had no symptoms, then you don't need to with covid.
Every year, some people die from complications from the flu, yet we didn't force kids to quarantine for just being exposed.
I get that we needed to quarantine when covid first hit because we didn't know enough about the virus, and also we did not have a vax, but we do now, and it's no worse than the flu.
Way more people die of covid than flu. Stop parroting unhelpful talking points

Look at the recent covid death rate and compare it to influenza deaths in winter months.
Before covid, did you lock yourself down in the winter? Wear masks? Or did you instead go Christmas shopping and attend holiday parties?

Except for the people for whom it is worse than influenza.
C’mon. You know we’re talking about the vast vast majority of people. Why do you keep saying that?
I guess you don’t drive either. Because driving is relatively safe - most people don’t die in an accident. I know I know - except for the people who have died in a car accident![]()

You see the difference, your child has a diagnosis.

Yes, the unlucky .0001%. That's life.
No, it’s death. And, now between colds and a funeral my kids will miss two weeks of school this month.
That's life.
My God, your casual brutality about this would stun even Hobbes.
PP, I am so sorry for your loss. This poster’s total failure as a human is not where the average person around you is coming from at all. May you be well care for in your grief by people who are not mouthing off on the internet from their basements.
Nope. This poster is all over these boards blaming people for giving her parent Covid. Sorry but older people die. That’s life.
Something is seriously off with you. How would you feel if it were your parent?
Anonymous wrote:All of you concerned parents should write the BOE and ask for staff to get covid leave again then. Otherwise you cannot guarantee that staff will be able to or willing to use their personal sick leave to stay home the full five days. Personally if I was having mild or no symptoms I’d have to come to work. My sick leave balance is low due to my kids being sick a lot and requiring a lot of appts due to my sons medical condition. I need to save as much leave as possible

If you want people to stop coming to work and school sick, we need a cultural shift so that people can take care of themselves and their families.
Then you take 2 days, your spouse takes two days or you hire a caregiver for your kids. It's part of being a parent. Maybe you should take less vacation and have that available for your kids. Or, maybe don't have kids if you aren't willing to take care of them.
You can’t schedule vacation time the same morning. Can’t afford a caregiver, and no spouse. Fact is, I have kids.
