Winter is only like 3 months. I'd rather deal with the DC area winters for 3 months than the hellish 3 month summer weather in FL.
Actually the balmy season in FL is from about October to May so about six months. May through September it's pretty hot. Unlike you I'll take that over the cold, wind, ice, snow, dead foliage, grey skies, depressing winter in the DC area which typically lasts from November through March which is more like five months.

US News and World report recently rated Florida #1 in America for both education and the economy.
You actually have to look at the whole picture.

“That placement is largely fueled by several stellar metrics in higher education, and less so by Florida’s still fairly strong performance in the pre-kindergarten-through-12th grade arena,” the report said.
Florida’s public colleges and universities posted the second-highest rates of timely graduations in the country and had the lowest average costs in the nation for in-state tuition.
That’s what put Florida on top.
[I would venture to guess that the low cost allows for a higher graduation rate, which is good, obviously, but doesn't necessarily speak to the quality of the education.}
In pre-K through high school, Florida excelled (ranked 5th) in college readiness and finished 12th in preschool enrollment. But other scores were more middling, with the graduation rate ranked 19th, and 8th grade reading and math scores at 21st and 32nd places.

Unfortunately they will have to learn the hard way that Florida only offers a flimsy plaster stucco version of a good life and is actually a human cesspool built upon the rotting carcass of what was once a magnificent and uniquely beautiful jewel of nature. Florida is a shrine to human greed and soullessness.

Dumb people that who can not do math and think they are now rich because of no state income tax.
Florida does have a good deal for students who attend instate colleges however that will not end well if the state sticks with Christian Nationalism into college curriculum.
Healthcare workers and doctors leaving in droves. Good ones.
Shands in Gainesville is having a hell of a time recruiting doctors especially for women.
