The teacher overreacted but is almost certainly reacting to whatever happened in the classroom last year- it’s a guess but I bet the parents were bad about signing things, helping with projects, signing up for conferences, etc.
I'm not entitled. I'd left my reading glasses at work, and I was having a ridiculously hard time reading the small print. I take full responsibility for forgetting the glasses and missing the signature. It's all my fault, not my kid's. But it didn't happen because I'm entitled.
Then why didn't you send the child a note to give to the teacher telling her this,? Only an idiot has one pair of reading glasses.
You can buy extras at the $ store for home, car, office, purse. Start using your head for something other than a hatrack!
My goodness, you're hateful. Go get some sun or something.
DP. I've got lots of reading glasses for different places. Most people do - that's why they sell them 2 or 4 at a time. "Couldn't find my reading glasses" is on par with "my dog ate it".
OP may have learned something from this. Her DC may have learned something from this. Maybe.

Our kids need to have a break!!! Secondly, email the parent and do not punish the kid. I would definitely email the principal.
Maybe parents should teach children to behave in school and then they wouldn't lose recess. You email the principal and then you are one of those parents that the school hates.
Are you illiterate?
No, she's right.
Kid didn't misbehave. Are you illiterate as well?
Kid didn't double-check the forms to see that they're signed before turning in. Even my kids are able to do that.
Now OP's DC knows to do it too. Unless OP emails the principal and snowplows this problem away.

This is appalling! Why should an innocent child be punished for the mistake of a parent and also be shamed in front of classmates? Contact the parents, and if you really want to incentivize them then attach a financial penalty.
I would personally leave this school as soon as I could. Part of the reason we pay for private is the personalized attention and flexibility the school offers to us as a family. This school/teacher seems extremely inflexible and mean.

Karen get over it.
