If OP isn't a troll - my reaction would be to get out of the house and call 911. We have multiple exits to our backyard and side yard with multiple locked doors between us and anyone who entered the house. I wouldn't leave my kid behind. If I had a gun, I wouldn't take the time to go for it - I'd GTFO. We're on a corner lot, I could be out of a side gate or driveway gate and onto the street in seconds.

I'm a California poster and I guessed this was HW the OP was referencing. The situations with each child and family are devastating but I know the circumstances of two of the three and each of those had *nothing* to do with the school. I don't know about the third. So people pearl clutching about OP pulling their kid out of school is pretty reactionary.

To the repeated people who complain about CA based people posting here: there is no board that is West Coast/CA based that matches DCUM. If there were, we wouldn't be here. Newsflash: parenting - pretty much the same questions, challenges, scenarios regardless if you are in CA or DC. Unless someone is asking about DC based day camps, of which I have no experience in, I find that I can relate to 99.9% of threads on DCUM and not just in the college forum. You'd be amazed the overlap of the private school forum DC vs. CA for example. Pop culture thread, finance, Tweens/Teens, Family Relationships etc. You're dense if you think otherwise, DC is not a special bubble.

My husband is as passive as they come …to a fault. But I have zero doubt that my husband would lay down his life to protect me and my children and would never in a million years do what your husband said he would do.

I could not be married or procreate with anyone this cowardly. If my husband gave this response I would seriously consider divorce. He certainly would not be a allowed to take our kids anywhere in a car, concert or uncertain venue solo. No doubt in my mind my husband would protect us if there were trouble.

Get a dog. Even a small one. The barking will deter.

I think that someone who leaves their child in a school where there are that many suicides that you seem to attribute to stress is crazy.

The fact that you are putting your child's life in jeopardy every day by sending her to that school, and then worrying about weird made up burglar scenarios is bizarre.
