DS 12 wears blue jeans, cargo shorts, camo jersey shorts, plain t shirts, and converse shoes mostly. He has no interest in athletic wear.

Hoodie question -

My 14 year wants a "good hoodie." He doesn't want to go shopping. He wants it to arrive at the house. I get it, I want stuff to arrive at the house too.

Basic, dark colored hoodie that doesn't flare out at the hips or chest. Small logos are fine. No big logos, though. Doesn't care about the brand.

I actually make my boys wear jeans once a week. Just so they remain familiar with the feel of clothing that's not joggers.

Like, to school? Ours has a strict dress code (I'm the polo and jeans poster), so this is bizarre to me. Like, they actually wear joggers in public? I need to pay more attention in the grocery store, I guess.

If your kids are going to a private school with a strict dress code, your observations on what MS boys wear may not be mainstream.

I wonder if pp was mistaking joggers for leggings or something? Joggers are pretty widely viewed as normal and appropriate casual wear for school so I assume pp may just not know what they are

I did not mistake them for leggings. I know they're a kind of sweatpants. I'm just surprised they're allowed at any school. Not expecting everyone to wear dress pants, but what happened to jeans?

Your surprise has lasted for pages and yet you still remain surprised. Drive by any public school sometime. You'll get over it. It's okay. Change isn't always bad.

Wearing sweatpants isn't ok.

You will recover from the shock of it in time. I know it's difficult. Perhaps get yourself a stiff drink. Breathe deeply when you think of the middle schoolers in joggers. It'll be okay.
