It depends on from who it is. If a close friend or family member, not a big deal to call me and say hello. I prefer when businesses text or email to confirm appointments and reservations.

However, super annoying when an overly needy friend constantly needs attention during work hours and sends messages with: "Are you free? I really need to talk" and then wants to spend an hour complaining about their life....but their life is the way it is due to their awful choices and no matter what advice you give, they choose to make the bad choice over and over again. I had to learn to let those people go especially over years of them being a taker and only wanting to meet up to talk the entire time about themselves.

My primary number is a landline. It annoys me that text does not have an effective way to let people know you don’t want to be contacted via text. No one respects the Do Not Disturb function.

No, we all have caller ID. If you don't know who it is or don't want to talk, just don't answer. It's not hard. Grow a spine, little baby.

I am 47, I don’t like phone calls esp from and to businesses. 99% I let it go to voicemail. If it’s a friend I will text back to try and find out what it was about. Only one friend actually calls me to talk; the rest want to burden me with something and/or their business can be stated in a text.
I also wish every business had a live chat.

I turn off my text messages. If it’s important, you’ll call me. And if I haven’t had an online convo with you in the past year, I delete you from my contacts. Texts are for appt reminders and meet ups. I’ll get to your text when I get to it. It could sit there for a week.

Is this just for personal calls or are you also not okay with your boss/colleagues calling?

Op - colleagues all understand that if for some reason they try to call and I don’t pick up - I will message them and say ‘can’t talk all day - text or teams?’ - our culture is busy af. My boss is the one person besides the kids school or camp or dh who can call and I feel like it’s acceptable (clearly my boss can do whatever they want)
