Not anymore unless you want a dump. Townhouses in that area are $700K.
"Dump" is subjective. This is a livable SFH zoned for McLean that went for $735k. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/7313-Woodley-Pl-Falls-Church-VA-22046/51812131_zpid/
This is a perfectly fine family home that went for $815k (also McLean): https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2639-Mann-Ct-Falls-Church-VA-22046/51812611_zpid/
$810k (Shrevewood/Marshall): https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/7412-Tower-St-Falls-Church-VA-22046/51812219_zpid/

So, like I said, stretching to around $800k can get you in a good house in a good neighborhood/district while being accessible to Tyson's. You just have to make peace with the fact that you'll be living in a 1950s/60s build or you'll be close to a highway.
We saw all four of those houses. I would classify them as dumps - they were bought by people who are going to spend $200K to renovate them.
I’m glad you aren’t critiquing my house!

This looks like a great option. Although OP was a little snotty about townhomes in their OP ...

I think you should buy a townhouse and save for another 5 years, then move again.

But they didn’t have to renovate then the second they moved in. If you bought that split level and spent 200k, you’d have a sfh in McLean for one million. Which is fabulous!

If you can go a bit above $700k, look at Greenway Downs - this recently sold for $720k (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2819-Summerfield-Rd-Falls-Church-VA-22042/51813904_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare) or this one sold for $620k within the last 6 months (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2812-Bolling-Rd-Falls-Church-VA-22042/51813955_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare). Id also suggest the townhouses near Jefferson Golf Course up Lee Highway - has a community pool, playground, a few in-home daycares, zoned for Shrevewood with tons of young families (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/7806-Hyson-Park-Ct-Falls-Church-VA-22043/51809733_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare). All of these are easy commutes to Tysons.
I would keep an eye on if this neighborhood is going to be rezoned once the new Dunn Loring school is built - that would be finished up right around when OP's kid is ready for K. There's a possibility they'll be rezoned there or even to Timberlane. That said, agree it is a GREAT community for young families.
100%! I live near this neighborhood and frequently walk through. It’s wonderful! I was walking there last evening and it was full of families and guests hanging out outside. I think you’d have to move fast at the $700k price point — and also have realistic expectations in terms of size and updates.
