My family did and reacted way differently than Biden. Kids became first, last and only priority. Later on, my dad was still able to have a massively important career in his field notwithstanding. When I first met Hunter 20 or so years ago I just felt sorry for him. Never met his older brother but I don’t think their father’s path was the best one for them.

Their father never cared about them, hence the result. The outcome would be totally different if the father was involved. They have access to the best therapists and psychologists in the country. My spouse lost their mom when all kids were young and all grew up to be successful adults without any drug addiction.

There are different ways to have a good marriage. I'd like to think it involves fidelity. But for some people that's not necessarily the case and you can have a strong and happy marriage even if one of the partners has affairs or a long standing mistress.

The are upholding the "till death do us part" portion. Also, when push comes to shove, they relentlessly back each other.
