Disney's is booming in Florida. Unless they are wiling to move the property, they are going to have to keep investing in it. Do you really think Iger is going to decide that DeSantis is mean and write off Disney World and move to a more welcoming state?
I think nowadays anything can happen, and usually does.

Sure because they may have to shut down operations in Florida? Lol Disney Florida operations are 5% of the companies revenue and the parks have seen large increase year over year from 2020. Disney yearly revenues are almost 140% larger vs the state of Florida’s yearly budget and 34% of the state budget is federal money. If you back that out Disney revenues are 2x the size of Florida state budget.
How DeSantis doing in the polls after Iger went after him? DeSantis and his minions will be out of jobs next cycle because Disney will flex its muscle.
You support corporations' controlling government.

COVID and an economic downturn will do that. Now that the economy is strong and at least for the vaccinated, COVID isn't an issue, Disney, at least the parks part of the business, should return. The films and media side, maybe not so much.
Their stock hit an all-time high in early 2021 so it's not covid. The streaming unit is what's dragging down their stock. Despite bleeding cash like crazy, Disney+ is still losing subscribers. It's a mediocre offering.
I doubt politics has much to do with it. Conservatives can easily drop Bud for Coors but there's no substitute for Disney.
Universal is becoming more popular than Disney World, for various reasons. Illumination has been putting out hits while Disney's films have been losing money or breaking open. They haven't gotten a billion dollars in a while. Little Mermaid, Elementals, Ant-Man 3, Guardians 3, Eternals, and now Indiana Jones 5, are all either disappointments or flops.
Did you know that Universal Studios hosts a Pride night? And that alone likely makes it the queerest theme park in America because unlike meetups or unofficial Gay Days, no other U.S. theme park offers a themed event for Pride on park property

In any case, people keep coming, so there’s hardly a shortage of Florida residents. Construction is booming.
And yet
https://www.wsj.com/articles/migrant-workers-flee-florida-as-new-immigration-law-takes-effect-94796abf
Ohs nos! Punishing people for committing crimes! Whatever shall we do?????
The law, signed in May by Florida Gov. and GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, seeks to further criminalize undocumented immigration in the state. It makes it a third-degree felony for unauthorized people to knowingly use a false identification to obtain employment. Businesses that knowingly employ unauthorized workers could have their licenses suspended, and those with 25 or more employees that repeatedly fail to use the E-Verify system to check their immigration status can face daily fines.
Why is it a felony for the employee and a fine for the employer?

When has a successful theme park that would cost tens of billions to replicate ever just upped stakes and moved to another state? [/quote
What they could do is instead of opening a new section at Disney World, they can open up attractions in another state. It would be better if they could reduce the demand in Orlando, but Disney is doing it by making it a trip for rich people, even charging for fast passes.

You understand that having miles of beaches unusable because of ecology issues becomes and economic development and revenue problem, right?
The brain drain from places like Florida and Texas will be slow enough that it won't really be noticed until it's critical - that's my 2 cents anyway.
If the GOP continues to dominated in red states I think the quality of life (and cost of living) will improve in blue states and decline in red states but you won't see any real effects for 15-20 years. I think one more electrical grid failure may start to turn the tide in Texas, but I'm not exactly holding my breath. There seems to be a massive amount of ignorance and apathy among the citizenry that governmental actions are carried out through the officials they elect.
Except the critical mass of wind and solar farms in texas has bailed out their grid during the hot snap.

You won't see the GOP recognizing this publicly.

young people move to FL and TX because it's cheap, not because of politics. I think some conservatives who tout how so many are moving to TX/FL don't understand the reason why people are moving there.. it's not because of their politics, but in spite of their politics.
These young people are just starting out, and if they are making $100K, they are being taxed a lot, so they escape to tax havens like TX and FL. Yes, I know TX has high property taxes, but young people aren't buying expensive homes.
Tax haven is because of the politics. Lower cost of living is because of the politics. These younger professionals, if they come in and vote for Democrats, will then turn those places into very expensive places to live with high taxes.

South Florida and Texas are like another country. English is a second language and both are culturally Latino. Now the state is dictating what can be taught and what can not with threaten of jail time. Any normal person would find another job. But who really cares? Florida universities and colleges are just party schools. The young professionals leave these states as soon as they can.
