She is probably terrible which is why he cheated and left.
Cheating and leaving your spouse is terrible. But so is writing into the NYT about it.
My DH is horrible to me and emotionally abusive. He threatens me with the kids and financially. People would be shocked because he comes across as cool and collected. He is a complete ass and I’m only still here because of the kids.
If I managed to find a hot BF whom I enjoyed spending time with him and had the money to fight him in a divorce, I too would be on that first ferry back. I’m sure my DH would tell everyone how awful I am.
My own experience makes me question that they had this picture perfect marriage and he’s an evil cheater who suddenly up and left her.
I mean… fair, but that’s not a reason to decline any custody of his own kids. That’s so damaging and presumably they did nothing wrong.
For all we know she threatened him and demanded full custody. He said fine and left. No one knows what conversations were had or not had or what he really wanted. There’s a chance he left out of true desperation.

And I think these white people jumped a broom at their wedding and said it was 100 year old tradition??? The pics are hard to make out, but I think they are all white. What the what??

And just to keep it current, the Daily Mail notes that she's a Harvard alum whose family has donated a building and lots of $$. Doesn't make her husband less of a jerk, but the story is a bit less compelling when you realize she is an uber-wealthy socialite.

I still have sympathy. The person she trusted the most completely blinsided her.
+100 with teens and 25 years together. You can’t even imagine the confusion and pain and shock somebody goes through. It is awful.

Yes.
Not even close. His dad was a teacher.
Per the obit, his dad "worked for the City Planning Commission in New York, The Hudson River Valley Commission and The Metropolitan Regional Council." He went to Harvard and Penn and was a Fulbright scholar. So maybe not "old money" per se, but not exacly a schlub either. His wife's parents had homes in NY and Martha's Vineyard and he and his wife also had homes in both places.
