My own experience makes me question that they had this picture perfect marriage and he’s an evil cheater who suddenly up and left her.
I mean… fair, but that’s not a reason to decline any custody of his own kids. That’s so damaging and presumably they did nothing wrong.
For all we know she threatened him and demanded full custody. He said fine and left. No one knows what conversations were had or not had or what he really wanted. There’s a chance he left out of true desperation.
They are both lawyers and empty threats wouldn't work. There’s never a good reason to dump your children.

My guess is these donations were related to their kids schooling or trying to get them admitted to certain schools.

She is a beautiful writer, and a beautiful person at least judging by online photos. Dont know her. Wish her well. Her husband was a dickhead. It will be hard for the kids to realize their dad was a hologram with no heart.

I had the feeling that the husband was on the spectrum and his appearance and material success masked a lot. I have known finance types like this in ny - successful, slightly mysterious troubled past, non confrontational personality interpreted as kindness rather than aloofness, calculating, no qualms at saying he didn’t want any custody of his then middle school aged kids, able to cut ties and move on without a backwards glance.
