I like to bake from scratch, but I've found that with brownies, the ghirardelli mix is so good that you might as well just buy the mix.

Specifically in my case a cold devilled crab dip and a smoked whitefish dip.
I don’t know if this means they are “trending this year” necessarily but it’s a good indicator of people’s interest.
I would never bring this to a dinner.

Boston baked beans (if you have never made homemade baked beans you are missing out -- they are not even the same food as the canned ones)
macaroni salad
pea salad
oreo icebox cake
Oh I love a good pea salad!!

corn dip and frito scoops: https://bingeworthybites.com/creamy-fiesta-corn-dip/. Instead of jalapenos I use a small can of diced chilis.
No bake choc eclair cake: https://www.culinaryhill.com/chocolate-eclair-cake/
I could try the frito one but the "choc eclair" cake is just flat out no. cool whip and canned frosting?

But if you are going to the WASPY-iest of WASPY picnics, take "millionaire bacon." (Probably should be renamed "billionaire bacon" to account of inflation.)
Broil bacon coated with brown sugar. Maybe a little fresh ground pepper if you're so inclined.
Put it out on a tray. Hot, or room temp, is fine.
Watch it disappear before you turn around.
Leftovers (of which there are never any, but you can hoard some for yourself later) can be crumpled in a salad or in scrambled eggs.
Anonymous wrote:We’re hosting just 4-5 other people, not a pot luck. For now menu includes a corn and squash salad, a take on my grandma’s Italian pasta salad, Pimms cup, TBD meat (likely some mix of Italian sausage, burgers, grilled chicken and/or pulled pork), and watermelon. Debating if I should add another side and/or dessert-browsing here for ideas.
Pp at 12:15 - that sounds great!
