Your child probably earned that spot.
You have made sacrifices to send them there.
Wear the hoodie. Drive the car. Be a part of the community.
That person is a jerk. Don't bend to match their vibe.

Nothing that happened is OP's fault. My DC worked hard to get into their school and I'm proud. I've also had people comment to me in parking lots (prospective parents) who were excited to talk to a parent of the school. I find it builds community.
Yea, I get it. My daughter is very successful, works hard, and makes a lot of money. So I have a bumper sticker on my car that announces her income so the whole world knows it. I’m really proud of her.
See how that works?

(I am a single parent which may or may not mean anything). She had the nerve to say “if i could afford to send my child to a $40k school i would go on more expensive trips”. I told her let me get back to my office and walked away. I never told this coworker or anyone at work that my child goes to private. The only way she would know is from my vehicle. Just venting. She caught me off guard.

Your coworker is rude and envious. Now you know who she is.
I wouldn't remove my decal.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I mean, isn't that the point of the magnets? to let people know where your kid goes? marketing/support for the school?
But your coworker was rude, regardless.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why assume the comment was made in a negative way? People are so sensitive. Isn't it apparent that if you prioritize private education you may not have money left to go on expensive trips? This was certainly true for my family growing up. Middle class child of immigrants who went to a NE boarding school. My own two kids are going through publics all the way simply because we could not make the same sacrifice my parents made for me.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Because they won’t tank the family finances for private school? Get over yourself.

What about all the bumper stickers I see on cars that say "my kid is an honor role student at (name the public school}? Are these people tacky?
