Yes and yes. She flew home to the DMV the day after she found out for the medical abortion (the pills, not the surgical procedure).

I know of a a couple that got pregnant in high school, and even middle school but not college/university. The university I went to was also in the same area.

The only girls that I knew that got pregnant while I was in college weren’t in college themselves.

eh - it’s 2023, the “single mom” penalty is greatly diminished if you are pretty, in shape, educated, under 30 and come from a well off family.

The “mom” penalty in dating isn’t due to being a mom in 2023 given the demographics of the country — it’s because of other things

In a weird way — the people who would benefit most from being young moms would be umc women who get into t30s/40s —

They show the signal of intelligence but also have massive familial support.

They don't tend to retain familial support after they get pregnant after passing out at a frat party.

The one girl I know who kept her baby, with her parents support, had her ex boyfriend who wanted her to abort try to kill the whole family, including her, her parents and his baby. It was a mess. She ended up with gray hair before she was 22. Some guys really don't want to pay child support. Yes, he did go to prison.

Small conservative Christian college with under 2000 students. My freshman year (2000) 4 girls (sophomores and juniors) got pregnant. All 4 of the guys were in the ministry program. All got married before the baby came. Last I heard, two of the couples were still together and both the guys were still pastors.

When you’re that kind of Christian you don’t take birth control or carry condoms because that means you’re PLANNING to sin. If it was just “getting caught up in the moment” that is less bad. (I do not think this but it was the way a lot of us thought then.)

There may have been more who aborted despite religious beliefs, but I wouldn’t have known.

I don’t know of anyone that had a baby in college. I did hear of a few abortions, but not within my close friend group.

Ha! That’s rich and creamy, indeed. Every mother’s dream for her son: a single mother. Granted girls from mc or umc families will fare better than their poorer sisters- but that’s cold comfort.
