A 17 minute walk is too far? Your daughter sounds spoiled. My kids walk 30 mins to school and have never complained.

Do your kids have to walk along a busy road where there are accidents almost every day ?

Wouldn’t that be true for students at any high school on a busy road? Which is… most of them.

Good point. Blair and Northwood are both on University. B-CC is on East-West Highway. Any student in the walk zone for those schools will spend time on a major road.

Your daughter walks further because YOU choose not to send her to her home school.

The school that is the worst in the dcc AND is relocating all the way to Rockville next year .. I'm sorry that I want what's best for my child , and what's best is not sending her to a school that has fights and bad influences there every day !!

Ok, you got me to chime in. Northwood parent here. We have been very pleased with Northwood, and DC has made a really nice group of friends there. The teachers have almost uniformly impressed me. You may want to learn more about your home school before pissing all over it. Or move.

I’ve heard that Mcps is planning to put Northwood under construction to renovate the school , many kids are also still going to classes in mobile classrooms . I do not want her in that learning environment .

Yes, Northwood students will all be bussed over to Woodward on Old Georgetown Rd for two years, 2024 to 2026.

In Rockville ? That’s even worse than wheaton !!!! Mcps is so inconsiderate.

It's going to be a beautiful new school and they are going to be the first to occupy it. I would be so happy for my child.

They'll be occupying it while Phase II is under construction on the campus and without athletic fields. It's not like they'll be getting the facility that the in-boundary occupants 2 years later will have.

Does your daughter even want to leave Wheaton? Is she not happy there? It will be a big adjustment to move to Blair in 10th grade
