Sure, but if the league is going to continue to hold an "All-Star" meet, they should at least try to make it accessible to the best swimmers in the league. Some parents won't be happy until the league stops holding All-Stars and divisionals just so little Johnny has a better chance at making the 8 and under relay carnival.
What's not accessible about it? It doesn't conflict with any major holiday or other NVSL event. They can't concern themselves with every other activity in the universe.
As other posters have pointed out, when the NVSL all star event is the same weekend as the long course zone meet it waters down the all star meet. Might as well call NVSL all stars a B meet if it's held on the same day as a major competition for the top PVS swimmers.
Or you could call All Stars a rec league championship. Which is what it's supposed to be...

Swimmers who qualify for both can choose which is more important. They still get the patch even if they scratch don’t they? Moving it a week earlier may remove the conflict with Zones but there are other big meets that weekend, Futures, etc. No time is perfect. It is a great opportunity for kids to prioritize and no it doesn’t water down All-Stars which is based on one swim and many of the kids at that level are separated by a tenth of a second.

Oh and to be clear don’t care about “Zones” either.
Parents with the year round swimmers really need to recognize it isn’t all about you and your kids. In most divisions, the A meet swimmers don’t need to be swimming year round or are doing it very lightly.

We are an upper third division team and we usually have incredible attendance for time trials.
So Division 5 or 6 is the cut line above which people take summer swim way too seriously?

Time Trials are basically an extra practice. They don't even hand out ribbons. It's not the end of the world if your kid or someone else's kid misses Time Trials. Coaches will get a time for them in practice or at the B meet. Life will go on.

We are an upper third division team and we usually have incredible attendance for time trials. This year we have about 15-20% missing it, which for our team is very much an outlier. Mostly other sport/champ conflicts and a few school trips.

Time trials and the first meet are both on a Saturday. Pro tip, even before the official end of the school year, schools really have no bearing on what you and your kids choose to do on Saturdays.
UM, our school has events both those mornings. We can't be the only FCPS that does? I know APS students with conflicts as well.
Also pushing up the season now butts up against champs in baseball and softball.
Also volleyball for a lot of girls.

Consider this scenario. Is it supposed to be a rec league championship where kids at the bottom of their age group for LC zones can come back to crush the summer league competition in a lower age group? The kids who won the 9-10 50 back and the 10&u IM at NVSL all stars in 2022 both swam in the LC zone age group meet a year earlier, in 2021, as 10 year olds. So you only want them out of the rec league championship when they're actually 10, but if they are 11 and don't qualify for 11-12 zones it's ok to swim in the 10 & under group at NVSL all stars?
They are saying that. NVSL is rec league and kids don't swim their age. There are some HOT threads on this. Honestly it is okay. My team rep said to some parents that no one is getting into college on their NVSL swim times. It simply doesn't really count. The Stroke and Turn Judges are erratic and it is human timers (not touchpads). It should be fun.

This is what our pool was told - that All Start needed to be done before August so everything was pushed up.
Plus - with FCPS starting so early now, it's hard to get a summer vacay or camp in unless you maximize August.
