It is, by all accounts, a great school that will be a fit for some, and not others.
The problem with UofSC is it doesn't conform to the (hypocritical) standards of the DCUM hive mindset. It isn't HYP, etc. It doesn't need to be.
It is a state flagship university, with the #1 International Business School in the nation.
It is a SEC school with a fun sports atmosphere. The mascot is the "Gamecock." Which is very publicly shorted to "Cocks". If that offends you, I guess you should go somewhere else.
It is in a "southern red state" (gasp). But Trump has been out of office for over two years and was recently indicted (maybe time to find a different bogey-man). I'm not sure how that impacts the university.
There is racism everywhere (not just South Carolina, yes, even in your DCUM "safe" enclave, yes, even at HYP, etc), and that is absolutely wrong and terrible. But that also doesn't mean everyone there is a racist. The vast majority (guessing 99%+) are not racists.
Go visit. If it fits for you, go for it. If not, enjoy your time somewhere else.
? That's ridiculous. yes, usnwr is ridiculous.

Oh, yes, because suburban DMV kids are so, so sophisticated.

Trust me when I say that neither you, nor your money, will be missed.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Is the anecdotal racism surrounding USC and SC that much more than other places like LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss?
My suspicion is no

doctors and academics are going to start leaving these states or not considering them at all
so while you might think people choosing to avoid colleges is silly, get back to me in 5-10 years when the full effects of the draconian laws being passed are actually felt
Oh, you'd love to believe that, wouldn't you.
