I’ve only noticed them over the last few years, but I’m not from the NE. Even here I see them often but still see a solid mix of shoes. In Italy it was everyone. I was really surprised because I’d been led to believe Vejas were the “it” shoe, but I hardly saw them.

Female. 53. Sambas were the only indoor soccer shoe available in the 1980s. Every soccer player had sambas. Make soccer players (and former) have consistently worn sambas as casual shoes for decades. My kids wore them in 2010 for indoor soccer.

Two of my pairs of Stan Smith Adidas have elastic laces (I added them) that look like normal laces. They are extremely easy to put on.
