We have a winner! You can be either #1 or #2, but either of those can also be #3.
Dp. I think you could say I don’t believe in XYZ but don’t *know* with certainty. I don’t think those are incompatible.
I always liked saying I was agnostic because I figured it just meant I didn’t care. Religion and gods have no place in my life, is not something I think about regularly, and I simply don’t care what others believe. But in reality I’m probably closer to atheist than agnostic.

There is no single correct definition/interpretation.
Yes, there is. There’s the correct definition, and then there’s what people “feel like” it means. ^^ See above.

Perhaps there are different definitions because agnostic sounds nicer and more sensible than atheist. But their beliefs may be the same.
Atheist does not mean knowing there are no gods. It means not believing in any gods.
But I' ve heard many agnostics state it as if "atheist" is a dumb position because no one can really KNOW that there is no god.

We are all agnostic.
and some of us are atheist too. We don't know and we don't believe.
You are contradicting yourself.
You can keep typing that, but that doesn't make it so.
What is the word you would use for someone who does not have a belief in a god and also makes no claim there is not one?
As soon as you say belief, you are not agnostic. There is no believe or not believe. There is only not knowing.
This is completely incorrect.
I don't believe in a god because I don't see ample evidence there is one. But I also don't know, because I can't say for sure there is not.
You don't believe there is an even number of gumballs in the jar, because you haven't seen evidence there is not. But you also do not know it is an odd number.
I believe I don't know the number of gumballs in the jar. It could be odd or even. I am agnostic about the number of gumballs.
