What’s weird is that perfumers have so many more chemicals at their disposal now and, like with certain musks to which some people are completely anosmic and other people perceive them as stronger every time they smell them (!), I think that our perceptions of fragrances are becoming different, too. Which they always were but now the chemicals seem to behave completely differently.
Like Jo Malone frags are kind of flattish and simple to me, linear and dull and somehow weak but painfully strong, like staring at snow for too long and then you get weird warped colors for a long time after. DP, btw.
PP, I feel the same about the Jo Malone, you phrased it perfectly. I don't get the love. Annick Goutal is similar to me too.

Atelier Cologne stopped selling in the US and Canada. Super sad as I loved the orange perfume. I still have maybe 1/3 of one of the smaller full size bottles and I’m rationing it. I hope they come back to the US at some point.

I have a gazillion little Jo Malone gift sets I wear frequently as well, but no specific scent has "captured" me if that makes sense.
Gucci Flora smells exactly like that Coty Exclamation! (the white bottle with the black exclamation point on it) from the 90s that I wore in middle school. I swear it's the same thing.

Not all Vanilla is disgusting. I used to love Vanilla Lace by Victoria's Secret back in the day before they discontinued it. I wear a vanilla bean roller ball fragrance that is oil based. Only in winter and I only put it on my wrists. It's very subtle. Some vanillas can be cloying.
I don't know how many bottles of Vanilla Lace I went through. I loved it. I fell in love much harder with c Atelier Cologne. And now they have discontinued that. It's such a shocking vanilla. Not overly sweet. It is counter balanced with lime but in such a surprising way. Now they have discontinued it in the U.S. I stocked up.
It's my daily scent. I often hear "Wow, you smell good...like you smell really good." or "You smell amazing."
I can't wear a lot of perfumes because most give me intense icepick headaches. Not Atelier scents though.
Interesting. I'm the PP with Atelier Orange Sanguine on my list and have a sample of the Vanille Intensee that I haven't tried since I am not really into vanilla scents, but I will try it tomorrow on your recommendation!

Atelier Orange Sanguine was my first love from Atelier. I went through two bottles. Then one day I smelled the Vanilla Intensée because it came in a duo with Orange Sanguine for the holidays. Some people like to pair them. I had ignored VI for awhile because I expected to disappointed by yet another vanilla.
I still remember that first sniff, it was electric. Seven years later I wear it almost everyday.

I like perfume but I have really pulled back on it. I'm selling most of mine and am down to 3 (2 are tiny rollerball fragrances that are jojoba oil based).
Also, for the animal lovers and pet owners, don't ever spray perfumes/colognes around your animals. They are very sensitive to it and it must be 1000% times worse for them with their sense of smell being so much stronger than a human's.
