The program is that you study science all year long and are not allowed to do any other club. Not for everyone even if you love science.

However, having the privilege available to join a team gives an unfair advantage against kids who live in pyramids where there is no opportunity to join an ademic team due primarily to socioeconomics.
As such, the "local" comparison at the individual MS level process kicks in where the applicant is compared to other kids who had the chance to join SO. Very similar to how universities base admissions against an applicant's classmates at their HS and not against other high schools.

That's not true. Or you don't know who the top SO students were that did not get in.
