What has he done to instill any confidence in his ability to be president? He has done a crappy job as secretary, shown his thin skin, took 2 month off for paternity ( I’d love to see the defense secretary or AG take 2 months off their jobs). On top of that, his only elected office was a mayor of a small city.

I agree that she’s a bad speaker. I dislike the way she breaks things down as if the person listening is stupid.

Now I could forgive that if she had demonstrated policy expertise or strong relationships with the hill to help advance legislation (like Biden).

I’m not sure what she brings to the table as VP or a presidential candidate but I would vote for her over any GOP nominee.

I don't think she is anymore of an "identity politics" VP than Pence was when Trump picked him in an overt attempt to appeal to white evangelical Christians.

I'll also go a bit farther and comment that ppl who whine about 'identity politics' solely when the purported beneficiary is African American leave me feeling cynical to say the least.

Back to Kamala...I don't think she done any better or worse than most recent VPs (ironically, I'd say Biden was an above average VP).

I don't think she's a great avatar for the Dems in a post-Biden scenario. I would actually put her in the same place as Pence - someone who was ostensibly a good 'pick' as VP, has a segment of the party base who truly supports her - but doesn't really offer anything that will move the party forward.

The complicated issue with Kamala is while it was easy for Rs to ditch Pence, if Ds try to do the same they will be attacked for abandoning a 'woman of colour'. Same with Transportation Secretary Pete - if anyone points out he's not going to appeal to most Ds outside the terminally online crew who loves watching him on cable news, we'll be accused of not elevating LBGT.

Realistically - the Ds have a fairly good bench - but they are all governors - and, to be blunt, are white.

If Biden or Harris end up running in in '24 I will vote for either because my political preferences are best served by the Dem platform. But i'm frustrated there are strong governors out there who ought to take the lead and it's not being discussed.

You realize the inflation rate can be coming down while prices are going up, right? Inflation is still way too high although the rate of increasing prices has slowed some.
