I’ve been on here about 13/14 years now and see that people still do bring foods to cook while on vacations. I never traveled as a child but I’ve done this as an adult to my own children never realizing this can be a negative memory. Not for every meal but I have taken things like oatmeal, cereal for quick breakfasts in the hotel room.
I did not go out to eat often as a child either, we had little money, single mom household and I loved every second and have fond memories of those times. I could count them on one hand but they were throughly appreciated. I even remember what I ordered.
This person sounds like a monumental brat, in desperate need of some adversity in their life.
This. I didn't grow up with much money and in years that my parents could afford a trip to the beach we did it as cheaply as possible. We still had a great time, and I have great memories.
We went on 2 vactions as a kid: 1 to Disney, 1 to Busch Gardens FL. And my parents saved YEARS to go and did it as cheaply as possible. Stayed in sh-- hotels offsite of the parks; crap seats on the flights; eating cheaply; no souvenirs, etc. I didn't really know any better so I was not resentful. Especially since I know now how expensive things are.
I don't fully understand how or why someone "resents" this sort of thing but I'm also not going to crucify them either, like some of you all. There are clearly other issues going on besides this. So, maybe remember that and keep your nasty comments in check? Damn. Some of you are really not nice people.
