If Beyoncé wants to win AOTY she will have to become white.
Like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Quincy Jones, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, OutKast, Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, Bruno Mars, and Jon Batiste?
You really think you did something with that list. We just watched the 64th Grammys. Taylor swift has won 3 times.
So what? She's popular and catchy. Her music is unavoidable. It's not a surprise that lots of voters know her albums and vote for them. It's not some some grand conspiracy.

I’m almost 60 and rolled my eyes. It’s why people think the Grammys are irrelevant.
Have you listened to her song? The award was for songwriting. She deserved it.
Sometimes the academy awards body of work and I suspect that was going on here. Also Willie Nelson winning 2 big country categories.
Sure. But the Academy did that more than 30 years ago when they gave her all the awards for Nick of Time. Let’s face it, the Grammy voters don’t understand most music today.
Its not a diss of the song. It’s a diss on the Grammys continued struggle to be relevant. They haven’t managed to give album awards to Beyoncé or Kendrick. I mean, really?
I know this is hard for you to understand, but there are tons of people who don't like Beyonce and Kendrick's music. Like someone upthread said, I've never understood the Beyonce worship. But you can listen to what you like if it makes you happy.
These awards shows are all so stupid anyway. There's all kinds of music for all kinds of people. Who gets to decide these things?
You know this is hard for me to understand? Really? You know absolutely nothing about me.
And it's the fact that there's "all kinds of music for all kinds of people" that makes the Academy's continued failure to recognize excellent Black artists, such as Beyoncé and Kendrick, at least a little problematic. It's the Academy's continued focus on aging musicians that makes them look stodgy and irrelevant. One doesn't have to listen to hip hop to understand that.
Lamar yes. Beyoncé is irrelevant. There I said it.
She is less relevant now. But as someone else pointed out - and as the winners show - the Academy loves to award for the body of work.
I think it is weird that Taylor hasn't won song of the year ever. She is an okay singer but a great songwriter. I wouldn't have given it to her this year - 10 minute version of an already-known song seems a stretch to reward.

Taylor Swift should not have won AOTY 3 times with her crappy basic a** music and remedial songwriting. There I said it.
