How old are you? I’m 42 and the guys I went to high school/college w cut their hair short so you can’t tell straight/curly. It would’ve been curly/wavy if worn in today’s longer styles.

This w. The vast majority of humans have curly or wavy hair it's only recently that it's become socially acceptable for guys to wear their hair long enough to see the curls

Same, this is not the look boys are going for from what I see. Their hair is much longer than mahomes and hanging in their eyes almost.

My son is not a trendsetter but he's got one advantage at least - a head full of dark, thick, extremely curly hair. He's loving the envy he gets from it these days. Although some boys do accuse him on perming (nope!)

My Ex and his father both have very curly Shirley Temple curls. His dad always used a hot comb since his youth to straighten it out. My ex would wear a cap and let his hair dry straight under the cap.
So my guess is, there have always been men with curly hair but they just didn't like it curly.
I know a woman with same kind of curls (like Nicole Kidman's natural hair) and she always irons it straight.

I am one of 4 and three of use went curly during puberty (2 boys, 1 girl). My daughter’s hair changed as well and I can tell my tween son’s hair is getting wavier. I assume that some of this is cultural. The curly hair comes from the Jewish side of my family, the Irish side all have straight hair.

There have always been the same number of naturally curly-haired people, but the boys now are watching tutorials just like the girls to learn how to fix curly hair. Otherwise curly hair tends to look more frizzy than curly.

my DS (with stick straight hair) has said this exact same thing!

My son had straight hair and it curled during puberty. Now he has a gorgeous head of curls that my teen daughter envies!

The only guy I knew who's straight hair became curly had lost all of it in chemo, and it grew back curly, but then it eventually went back to his usual straight hair.

I was the only boy with curly hair the entire time I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and I hated it. Got picked on a lot for it.
