Pee, pot and rats.
We saw them when we got gas.
We live in the city, but our part is pretty.
Pee, pot and rats.
Pee, pot and rats.
Look, we are Democrats!
Our kids say we’re racist, but they need to face it.
Pee, pot and rats.
Pee, pot and rats.
See how they run.
They jump off trash and run outside
They see you but don't want to hide
DCs got rats
Pee, pot, and rats
Pee, pot and rats
Pee, pot and rats
And the occasional scat
And the occasional scat
My neighborhood is so fun and vibrant
That people love to camp for their own enjoyment
And you sometimes get carjacked
Pee, pot and rats
Pee, pot and rats

Umm, I live 10 blocks North of that intersection and was going to tell OP it sounded like the alley behind my block of $1.1M homes.
Ok . . . but 10 blocks north is Columbia Heights, and with all due respect Columbia Heights ain’t 14th and U. Yours in general is a much worse neighborhood where the problems aren’t limited to a few corners.
LMAO.

What? No. It is not even a Foreign Trade Zone like you have at Dulles or Richmond...
And who put the information about mailing address correlating to where something was located geographically.
Addresses can often times be removed from their geographic location. Look at the Pentagon for example. Most offices in the Pentagon have DC addresses.

No. The OP is asking how the city can allow such a bad situation to occur in that area. It’s a fair question.
It’s a big city. It’s one corner. It’s slated for massive redevelopment. How’s that for an answer?
It's honestly not that big of a city. It's really not.

But Redfin says my place
is worth at least $1.8!
Pee, pot and rats.
Another thing I learned in this thread. Quality of life is determined by Redfin home value.
Sure beats the suburbs.

Interesting, because I don't know anyone who lives in the city and goes to NOVA for anything. Although that's not a recent thing.
So you don’t know anyone who has flown out of National Airport?
National Airport is in DC. It was built on landfill in part of the Potomac River that is part of DC. True, you have to go through NOVA to get there.
The airport with this address: 2401 S Smith Blvd, Arlington, VA 22202?
The dumb*ss saw a tweet from their favorite DCist reporter that Columbia Island is in DC and then thought they would make up a story about DCA.
